The Charger – A New Special Infected in L4D2

The Charger is among one of the new special infected who will be making an appearance in Left 4 Dead 2. Described by many as a “one-armed ram,” the Charger’s primary strength is speed. Valve decided to add in the Charger to defeat camping tactics by rushing into Survivors who are packed in a crowded tight group. This will eliminate the act of having Survivors camping together in a corner, which was one of the problems that was in the original Left 4 Dead. The Charger has a charging attack (sort of like how a Hunter charges a pounce) and can rush Survivors like a bull to knock them over in a line. The Charger then picks up last person knocked over and slams him/her repeatedly into the ground. This disables that Survivor, who can only be helped by his/her teammates.
The Charger can be said to be sort of a “mini-Tank.” Though it’s definitely not as bulked as a Tank, the Charger has a gigantic torso with an enormous right arm and an oddly shaped head. His left arm is tiny and all shriveled up. As far as clothing goes, from pictures it looks like he wears a pair of busted overalls.
There have been some sources claiming the Charger has 500 HP, however, this cannot be confirmed as of yet. The Charger is immune from bashing, so killing him will not be as easy as you think. When playing as the Charger, it would probably be more adviseable to attack Survivors when they’re closely grouped together.
The Charger can spawn multiple times per chapter, and can spawn at the same time as a Tank. He is playable in Versus and will be added to the standard lineup of special infected. It’s not clear how often he will spawn or if multiple Chargers can exist simultaneously, but more information will be found as it’s given.
