Left 4 Dead 2’s AI Fail
With reports of players failing to get through the ‘Easy’ difficulty due to the stupidity of AI companions in Left 4 Dead 2, a video has backed this up by showing just how hilariously bad the AI can be in the sequel.

This happened to me on the first level on Dark Carnival i jumped onto a truck suddenly a hunter pounced onto me and the bots did NOTHING the just stood there until I died and once I did they finally moved around.
I don’t think that shows how horrible the bots truly are as I could get the L4D1 bots to do the exact same thing but it’s still pretty funny.
Someone should record the bots
1) standing there while a zombie hits them over and over and over
2) standing around with their pistols out, barely firing
3) All three of them running back through the level for no apparent reason (and cue you getting jumped by SI)
4) One-upping Bill’s fascination with witches by pointing them out and then going out of their way to go stand in front of them and startle them.
5) Chasing you idiotically while a smoker pulls you away not shooting at the smoker, not smacking you off, but shooting the common infected around you and/or the area.
5.b) Taking 12 light years to rescue you from a SI attack.
I could go on…
Seriously Valve why are the AI-SI so smart and the teammates so dumb? Playing solo on normal can become a chore because of how idiotic the AI act.
You gotta be kidding me. Players fail to get through EASY with the bots? Jesus christ, are you even trying to make use the survivor bot AI’s good sides? I’ve gone through Dead Center, Dark Carnical and Swamp Fever on Expert and singleplayer faster than most 4 player teams go through them on advanced with the bots. Tomorrow I’m going to take Hard Rain and The Parish on and see how I do.
I know they’re dumb and slow, but eliminate whatever weaknesses you find and exploit their strengths- They’re not that bad when you know how to use ‘em. Then again, I did play the first game way too much, so maybe I’m just crazy good but jeebus, do players really fail easy in single player? That’s hilarious and saddening at the same time.
