Valve announced the first game add-on for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead 2, is in development and targeted for release in early 2010.
Dubbed “The Passing,†the first game add-on for L4D2 brings the original Left 4 Dead (L4D1) Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay for the PC and Xbox 360.
Targeted for release in early spring, “The Passing†takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.
In addition to the new co-operative campaign and associated narrative, “The Passing†will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play. The Passing will also include a new “uncommon common†zombie class, melee weapon, and firearm. Read more…
The great thing about Dead Center is that there are so many different places to instant kill your opponents. This one is at the window right before the Survivors go upstairs to enter the hall that brings them to the elevator. It is the hall right after the Survivors get back inside after going on the balcony to get around the fire.
Valve has put forth a new update for the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2, fixing up a long list of outstanding bugs, tweaking gameplay and much much more. Expect the same fixes “later this month,” Xbox 360 players.
Most of the changes appear to be relatively small, somewhat reducing the effectiveness of the Spitter in some circumstances, but not by much.
This is not an instant kill, but it’s certainly a great Charger spot. It is very easy to hit the Survivors as it’s a narrow pathway and you are guaranteed to incapacitate your main target as you will charge him right off of the roller coaster. This Charger takes place after the Survivors run up the initial part of the roller coaster and come around to the second part where they must travel up the coaster (1st if you do not include the initial climb). To give you a better idea of how it is done you may watch the following video:
It looks like Valve didn’t bother to give the new infected proper hitboxes.
You probably already know about the Hunter’s hitboxes being in front of the avatar in the first Left 4 Dead, but this is something way bigger! Read more…
The delayed SDK for Left 4 Dead 2 has been a bummer to that robust modding community, but now they have news that softens their disappointment: When it arrives, the kit will support custom survivors, infected, weapons, you name it.
Custom models are now supported and very much a reality now! And that includes survivors, special infected, common infected and weapons. Not only that, it seems the weapon functionality can also be edited. So what does this all mean? Well it means mappers can have custom survivors, special/common infected and entirely new weapons unique to just their campaigns (i.e map side modifications, NOT server side)! The L4D modding scene just got a little more interesting boys and girls.
What does this mean to you, the Left 4 Dead 2 PC player? Well, a whole lot more than just Nude Zoeys, I’d bet. Maybe nude jockey-Zoeys hybrids? It’s a start.
Close to the elevator the Survivors must take in the first chapter of Dead Center there is an excellent instant kill that can be done by the Charger. As the Charger you can wait until they are about to enter the elevator, or you can wait until the approach the elevator room from the long hall way that they must take to get their. Once they do and are lined up with the window close to the elevator you can charge them straight out of it. This is a great instant kill because it does not look like you will be able to get them out of the window due to the 2 feet of wall before the window starts. This instant kill can catch many teams off guard. You can view a video of it being performed below:

The Jockey is weak by nature, but when included in a coordinated attack can have devastating consequences on a team. By himself he is nearly useless when a team is not under the pressure of a full attack. We have compiled some information for you that will hopefully help you not only avoid his wrath more easily as Survivors, but you may also become better at using him in the versus modes.

The Charger is a very powerful special infected. Not only does it have the ability to deal large amounts of damage but can also separate a survivor from the group. To help you use the Charger to it’s fullest potential as well as defend against it as the survivors we have made a guide that will teach you everything you need to know about the Charger.

At the beginning of the first chapter of The Parish it is possible to instant kill the Survivors right as they leave the dock. Using the Charger, wait until the survivors choose their weapons and then run to the end of the docks walkway. If there happens to be more than one Survivor within that area it is possible for the Chargers area damage effect to hit the nearby survivors over the railing killing them as they land in the water. The following is a video of the instant kill in action:
